advent market

    November 24 – December 23, 2023

Hand warming jugs of hot punch, faces aglow in the warm light, the aroma of Tyrolean delicacies wafting through the air and wide-eyed children, radiant, excited, eavesdropping on Christmas tales − this year, as always in the run-up to Christmas, the Hall Advent Market is the Yuletide meeting place for young and old alike.

Pass a few hours with family, friends and acquaintances and indulge yourselves in the culinary treasures on offer. The food stalls will be preparing and serving traditional and unique fare such as hot, spiced wine (gluhwein) and punch, doughnuts (krapfen), filled open fritters (kiachl), roasted chestnuts (maroni), roasted garlic bread (bruschette) and other tasty Tyrolean delicacies. The majority of the 34 or so stalls are manned by local vendors from Hall and the surrounding area, but as well as Tyrol, there are also representatives from South Tyrol and Bavaria.

Brass bands and choirs, and for children an artificial
ice rink, all combining to create a wonderland atmosphere at the Hall Advent Market. Musical performances will take place on every day at six p.m. Father Christmas and his helpers will be dropping in on the old town quarter of Hall on December 6th. He will deliver his traditional Yuletide message and will be joining with the children in a Christmas Carol singsong.

The days become shorter, the nights draw in and the smell of snow is in the air – a clear sign that Christmas is just around the corner. The Advent Market begins on Friday 24th in November at the Oberer Stadtplatz in Hall. Following the practice of previous years, the market will be open daily right up to the December 23th.
